You should definitely do some of the game’s side missions, not only do give you XP but some of them are hilarious. Unless you go straight through story missions, which you shouldn’t, you shouldn’t come across a gameplay wall. ![]() Solo play is fun and the game is balanced appropriately for solo play. Like previous games, Borderlands 3 can be played solo and co-op. The second game built upon the first game’s gameplay so well that many expected, myself included, how Gearbox would expand and improve on Borderlands 2. Gameplayīorderlands has always had a solid gameplay foundation. It’s a shame, because Gearbox can do a great villain but it feels like a step back in that department. The twins try way too hard to be evil and edgy and most of their jokes and one liners fall flat. The Calypso Twins had potential to be great villains but they would never be able to capture the sheer excellent twattery of Handsome Jack. The story’s biggest weakness are the main villains. There are moments where Borderlands 3 tries too hard to make you laugh, with the end result being a low groan. The funny moments aren’t as funny as the previous game. It starts off well but around the half way point you can tell that the story isn’t going to be fulfilling as the second game. The story for Borderlands 3 isn’t bad but it isn’t as cleverly written or as good as Borderlands 2. Now I’m not going to give full 1000-1500+ word reviews for each part of Borderlands 3, otherwise this review incredibly long and you’ll go grey reading it.Įnough of me rambling on like a numskull, here’s the review. I’m reviewing Borderlands 3 and all of its major DLCs in one article. Why not repackage what I have already done and turn it into something different.Īll of the “major” DLC is now out for Borderlands 3 and so I decided to a big bundle review. The Borderlands 3 review has sat unfinished in my drafts for a while now and I was thinking of just deleting it. I was originally going to review Borderlands 3 after I completed it but unfortunately, I never got around to it. Score: 8.This review is going to be a bit different to the others that I have done on this site. It all comes down to choice and whether or not you’re a trophy hunter. I personally think it’s worth getting together through Season Pass 2, but Arms Race won’t be for everyone. On the whole, the Director’s Cut is definitely the better of the two final DLCs and has much more content overall. It’s a tough boss and I can’t say that I’ve overcome it just yet, I also need a quick way to scavenge more Eridium before I can even have another go. It takes 500 Eridium to even get access to this beast and even though the content does actually give you that amount to begin with, you’ll need to gather up another 500 if you leave the area, whether you beat it or not…wish I knew that beforehand. ![]() Hemovorous the Invincible, a gargantuan Varkid who is no pushover. The final bit of content is the game’s first and supposedly last Raid Boss… It’s a great bit of DLC to end on and makes me really want to Gearbox to say they’re working on Borderlands 4 now. This also comes with a few bonuses like Behind the Scenes content and new Vault Cards, but it has an Ava storyline that has you travel to new locations across the galaxy to solve some grisly murders and also adds more to the overall Borderlands 3 story. It’s hard to say if its worth the price tag on its own, but for now let’s take a look at the Director’s Cut… It’s a neat mode and the trophy requirements aren’t too challenging either. If you die without doing any of this, you lose everything. The only way to get out safely with your loot is to either find drop points that will take 3 of your chosen items out of the map if you die, or if you beat the boss in the middle and then you can also take another five with you. This can be played either solo or in a group and is a homage to the Battle Royale genre where you are dropped into a sizable map with zero weapons or shields and have to go to specific areas to grab loot while the map keeps getting smaller and smaller. The Designer’s Cut comes with a few bells and whistles like extra skill trees and cosmetics for your skin, a new weapon trinket and ECHO device skins but the real meat of the content is the Arms Race mode. ![]() I’m always eager for new content, so let’s dive in to see if getting Season Pass 2 is worth it…įirst let’s start with the Designer’s Cut and also keep in mind you can get both of these DLCs separately if you wish. I’ll start by admitting that I’m quite the Borderlands fan and even got platinum’s for both PS4 and PS5 versions of Borderlands 3 (after they finally patched the PS5 version’s trophies). Should you pick up what is probably the final Borderlands 3 DLC?
